Atlanta: Dry Gas Stations and (Almost) $5 Gas

So I hopped on over to CNN for my daily Corporate Controlled Mainstream News fix and I found this tidbit as the lead story:

Mohammed Hussain got 3,000 gallons of gas delivered to his Chevron station in suburban Atlanta on Saturday. By Sunday morning, all of the gas, priced at $4.39 per gallon for regular unleaded, was gone.

"We're dry. We've got no gas here," Hussain, the station's manager, said Monday morning.

He said he has "no idea" when the next shipment will come, even though he's been in constant contact with the local terminal.

"It could be days," he said. "Obviously, we're disappointed. We're being patient. That's all we can do."

Across metro Atlanta, drivers in one of the nation's largest commuter cities are running into the same thing: a lack of gas and no clear idea when the situation will get better. State and industry officials say they're working as fast as they can and are urging people not to panic.

Not to Panic?

No gas in metro Atlanta? There's nothing else to do BUT to panic. Geez.

The news (overall) has been downplaying the extent of Ike's damage as well as it's reach into areas outside of the Texas/Louisiana area because of the damage done to Houston's refineries.

Apparently it's bad. Really bad.

Hell, I've been applying for jobs up that way and now I'm rethinking that decision. I mean..unless I can live and work i Atlanta proper then I will not be moving that way.

Crazy.

Well Damn, T.I. Beats Gun Charges

Sonofabitch:
In the year that he is awaiting sentencing, T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, must complete at least 1,000 hours of a total 1,500 hours of community service, talking to youth groups about the pitfalls of guns, gangs and drugs.

U.S. Attorney David Nahmias said Harris will remain "under strict bond conditions" during the next year.

He said Harris' sentencing was deferred "to allow him to perform a unique and extensive program — at least 1,000 hours — of community service. That service will focus on using his high public visibility and his talents to tell at-risk young people about the mistakes he has made and to educate them about the dangers of violence, guns, gangs and drugs."

Nahmias said under the agreement, Harris will have to serve a year in prison and three years of supervised home detention, perform a total of 1,500 hours of community service and pay a $100,000 fine.

T.I. gets caught with machine guns and silencers, as a convicted felon, and all he gets on FEDERAL gun charges is 1500 hours of community service, one year in prison, three years of "supervised home detention" and $100,000 fine? Really? Damn. Who's his lawyer? If he wasn't already big time his business is gonna go through the roof as every drug dealin', gun toting, gangster is gonna want him to perform some of his T.I. magic for them.

The Plot Thickens: T.I.'s Bodyguard Rats Him Out

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 10/14/07

Hours before hip-hop music's biggest night, one of the industry's hottest acts was arrested by federal agents for allegedly buying machine guns.

Atlanta rapper T.I., whose given name is Clifford Harris Jr., was in federal custody Saturday night in his hometown. His arrest came at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, four hours before the BET Hip-Hop Awards show got under way downtown.

Harris, 27, was charged with two felonies —- possession of three unregistered machine guns and two silencers, and possession of firearms by a convicted felon. The arrest was made in the parking lot of a downtown shopping center, which a witness identified as the Walgreens drug store at the corner of North and Piedmont avenues.

Harris was arrested after allegedly trying to purchase the guns from a "cooperating witness" with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

"This investigation developed very quickly," Vanessa McLemore, an ATF special agent, said in a statement Saturday night. "We learned only this Wednesday that the cooperating witness was allegedly buying the machine guns for Harris. The cooperating witness told Harris on Thursday that he had obtained the items, and on Friday, Harris made it clear that he wanted them delivered to him [Saturday]. Harris then agreed to meet and took possession of the machine guns [Saturday] afternoon." Click to Continue

What the hell? Dude gets arrested on Federal gun charges and he starts singing like a canary? I don't understand. Folk don't think far ahead. And where the hell was he buying these guns at anyway? Geez. This is going to be interesting. We'll see how it plays out. This isn't my normal fair but I'll definitely keep you posted.
