When it Rains...

Sigh.

My Baby is sick.

And by "Baby" I mena my Mac Powerbook. The computer, I like to say, if it were a man, I'd marry.

Sigh.

This new gig is kicking my ass and I need to move, like yesterday (anybody looking for a roommate in either Atlanta ot Tallahassee - hit me up) and I am beyond frustrated.

I''m working on a jacked up Dell laptop that made me (finally) swear off Dells and PC's forever.

I'm sending the Mac in to be fixed...and will probably not be blogging heavily until it is...if at all.

As a matter of fact - since I have to go on this extended hiatus anyway - might not get back up and running until I've completed all of the design chnages I've been looking to implement on this site...I've out grown blogger and looking to make some major changes to Brown Sugar.

So consider this radio silence for now...but I will be back...bigger and better.

A Little House Keeping

Alright..

Obviously I haven't started the Mistress Tales. I was supposed to start them yesterday , but now won't start them until next week. There is a lot going on in my offline life and I'm still working on re-doing a couple of my other blogs, so things are going to remain sporadic around these parts.

I'm going to do a postmortem on the election, but I am going to look and see what his cabinet appointments are going to look like, as they trickle in you'll here more form me.

I have couple of new jobs that are/have started this week so I will be doing A LOT of non-blog writing (well not for my blogs at least) as well some other work I've let fall by the wayside and I should be starting work on a book.

Yes you read that right.

Brown Sugar will be writing a book.

So, like I said there is a lot going on 'round these parts. Bear with during the transition and I'll be back to doling out the relationship advice (and other tidbits) in no time.

Quote of the Day

The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even one term, but America – I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you – we as a people will get there.

So What If The O-Man Doesn Win? Part 2

So what if the O-Man doen's win?

I asked this question once before. But since it is election day I'm asking again.

I know I've been quite critical of Obama these last few months and with good reason, but I do recognize that if he loses a lot of hopes and dreams of a lot of people will be dashed. And not like they were in 2004 when Kerry lost.

Obama has become a repository for all the hope and change many people feel is desperately needed for this country to get back on track. And I just don't see how folk recover from that kind of blow.

An Obama loss would be a blow I don't think the country would recover from. My friend predicts riots. I don't think their will be violence, but instead a real sense of defeat and hopelessness that can send a country already disillusioned and pessimistic into a downward spiral it cant get out of.

Here's hoping for an Obama victory.

Hillary Clinton Votes

So am I the only one who thinks she did so for John McCain?

Obama Brings the Hood Out to Vote

So I early voted last week and while I was standing in a long (but fast moving) line at the courthouse, I noticed some folk standing in line to vote that I was pretty positive had never voted before.

For lack of better phrasing - The Hood was out in full force.

Yes, I know I'm stereotyping, but I don't feel bad about that, especially sense dude turned around and when he opened his mouth and all I saw was gold. Not even pullouts. But permanents.

At that moment I felt safe enough to say that he had never voluntarily gone to the courthouse to do anything, let alone vote.

Now his group was filled with the usual suspects: dreads, big braids, weave, blue eye contacts and babies on hips.

And while I may be stereotyping, once I was inside to vote one of the young ladies from the Hood Crew was in front of me and the poll worker yelled out "First time voter!," and everyone cheered.

See. I told you.

So while everyone else tonight will be looking at the youth vote and African-American turnout, I'm looking at the hood vote. I'm curious about how some of the more "rough" counties in this country turned out to the polls. How many of them actually braved courthouses and other unfamiliar precint settings (libraries anyone) to vote for the first time.

Feel free to let me know if you live in one of said counties.

Sorry for the Absence

My bad.

I've been gone awhile.

I was living it up enjoying the homecoming festivities at my former university this past week.

I'm back..sort of. I'm going to be working on a couple of my sites Sweet Potato Pie and Black Cinema for the next week or two so posting will remain sporadic during that time.

I will be live blogging election day and all its happenings on Nov. 4th, so come and join Brown Sugar for election day coverage that you really won't get anywhere else.

And on Nov. 5th the first installment of the Mistress Tales will begin, so definitely come and take a peak at that.

This site will also be undergoing some changes as well so look for that and in a couple of weeks everything should be back to normal.
